So after much thought and cosideration it has become evident that the only way to get a Pastorate is to apply. I have to say there have been times my energies were low due to PSC’s desiring long term applications. Meaning that they would request 1-2 month long preaching sessions. Unfortunately this occured while my family and I were on the road more or less in Texas.
It was unfortunate because as we were at that time working full time and trying to secure a pastorate. That and traveling led to a rather unfortunate set of circumstances. Not to mention the burden of student loans that many in the pastorate are laden with.
After getting back home to Oklahoma after two years on the road in Texas I slowed down on my applications. I recently started getting down and out questioning my capabilities as a minister. Luckily my loving wife brought me back to reality. She let me know that I was going negative and it was starting to wear her down as well. That was a few days ago and I made a resolve to change that!
So here we are in a new year. The first day of 2018 and I am going to start mapping out my gameplan with guidance from above. One cannot expect to tell someone a message if they do not get out or send a courier. That was what the apostles did, they went carrying the good news of the gospel. I have elected to make 2018 the year of the preacher! I will carry this message in every format possible to all who will hear it. While doing so I will land my first full time pastorate with the blessing of the Lord.
The ways I plan on doing this are as follows:
- PRAYER ( I am going to ramp up my prayer life!)
- Record a daily exposition from a commentary
- Write two daily blog posts
- Become more active on Twitter (Still trying to get that one figured out.)
- Print some resumes for old school submission
- Create a pastoral philosophy
- Create a better cover letter
- Make use of my new Full Focus Planner to achieve quarterly goals.
- Make some blogging connections
- Increase blog readership
The above of course are all contingent on the blessing of our Father. I know that my Prayer life has been one of the weaker components in my life as of late. I do pray but extended time in prayer has been waxing. I know that God has a plan for this pastor and his family. I need to keep talking to Him and letting Him know my desire to serve.
I hope that you will check back from time to time and join me on this grand adventure we call life. Until next time God Bless!
