Every 60 seconds on Facebook: 510,000 comments are posted, 293,000 statuses are updated, and 136,000 photos are uploaded.
There is nothing more exciting than seeing your page number go up. You reach yet another goal and go to sleep feeling content and pretty chuffed with yourself. But then the shock in the morning, you lost likes and are back to square one. You wonder if it’s something you said or if they find your competitors more interesting. Considering that it’s now harder than it has ever been to unlike a page, so why do people go out of their way to, unlike a page?
1. Not enough content
A page who only posts like once a month will not generate any engagement and people will forget about it. You want users to remember your page, your name and maybe think one day: ‘Oh yeah, I may be needing their services’. Whereas if you don’t post enough, no one will ever have that thought. Try to post at least once a day or check out step 2 for my perfect posting recipe.
2. Too much content
We all have that one person on Facebook who posts far too much, unfortunately, we cannot unfriend them ‘cause they are family or a close friend. But when a page does it we can easily unlike them and no longer have to see their 10 posts a day.
Be wise with how many times you post, I personally think that 2-4 times a day is perfect.
Little Tip: One post in the morning, noon and night time is a recipe for success.
3. Constant Self-Promotion
You obviously have your Facebook Business Page to promote your company, but please don’t just post promotional content. Followers don’t want to be bombarded with constant posts that are just self-promotion. Remember to show a bit of character through and perhaps mix it up a little. Snap a pic of the sunset on your way home from work and post it, or post a funny cat video on #Humpday Wednesday as motivation?
Don’t be a robot, show personality and you’ll build closer relationships with your followers which is only a plus for the future and will benefit you in the long-run
4. Page is off topic
Everyone loves videos, memes and funny pictures, they also get a good amount of engagement. However, don’t forget that your page is representing your company. Show your personality, but you want to show your fans that you are serious about this and you definitely won’t achieve that by only posting memes.
People liked your page because they are interested in your services, don’t get carried away by posting too much unrelated content. Try to have a good level of business and personality posts; experiment to find out what works for your page the best.
5. Disagree with your views
Don’t ever be rude or arrogant on your business Facebook page, that’s why you have a personal account. This is by far the fastest way to lose likes, ‘cause no likes a jerk. Be polite, nice and remember that negativity or openly criticising someone will not gain you any likes.
Make your account interesting and ‘likeable’ by following these steps to avoid unnecessary unlikes. We would love to know your thoughts on this, tweet us @snatchdigitaluk or comment below!
