What is a monster?

GCSE English Language - Frankenstein

A resource that can be used as a starter when studying Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' as part of the Edexcel GCSE 9-1 in English Language.

Learners are to draw their interpretations of a monster and then discuss their drawings as a whole group. This is always an interesting exercise as there is usually a variety of interpretations. I then decided to collect them in and re-distribute them for a descriptive language writing task. The idea flows nicely for when they begin to read the extract, which focuses on the moment when Victor's monster comes to life.
