- Completion of 10+2 course
In order to attempt the entrance exam conducted for the admission to various engineering courses, one must have completed the 10+2 school course. After completing 10 standard students aspiring to go for engineering course should opt for science subjects like physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The student should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in the PCM subjects to be eligible for admission to engineering undergraduate course.
- Secure high marks in the entrance exam
Entrance exams are conducted for admission to engineering and medical colleges both at the state level as well as national level. Rankings are awarded based on the marks scored. In order to be able to choose the college of your choice, you must score quite high and be in the top ranks as counseling is done and choices are offered based on the rank.
- The process of admission
Admissions are offered based on the marks scored both in the entrance exam as well as the 10+2 examination. IIT’s have their own entrance exam conducted at national level. The engineering colleges of the state come under the purview of the technical education board of the state.
The relevant authorities arrange the counseling for the students where the process of evaluating the merit marks, initial seat allocation and the interview is conducted on the dates announced by the technical board.

- Secure admission
At the time of allotment four options are given to the selected student
Option A – The student accepts the branch allotted and does not ask for any up gradation in the branch allotted. The student also undertakes to report to the college allotted as per schedule. If the student fails to report within the stipulated time the admission is forfeited.
Option B– In this case, the student accepts the branch allotted but remains in the counseling process for branch up gradation. The branch upgraded after shuffling shall supersede the branch allotted initially and will be binding to the student. The student shall report to the college as per schedule failing which the admission rights will be withdrawn.
Option C – Student expresses that he/she is not interested in the branch allotted and opts to remain in the counseling process for branch up gradation.
Option D– Student expresses that he/she is not interested in the branch allotted and also does not opt to remain in the counseling process. The admission process ends for the student without allocation of the seat.
- Complete the Course successfully
After seeking admission, the student enrolls in the college and completes the four-year course successfully and is given the degree certificate in B.E or B.Tech electrical engineering as the case may be.
