The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Saturday cited water-logging as the reason for Thursday’s ‘monster jam’ that brought traffic to a“There is no jam here right now, but the main cause of the jam is drainage system,” said CGM, Technical, NHAI & in-charge of NH-8, BS Singla.
Meanwhile, Officials from the Haryana government authorities, HUDA and NHAI met in a meeting earlier today to discuss the Gurugram jam situation.

Those attending the meeting included Additional Chief Secy Haryana, Deputy Commissioner Gurgaon, HUDA authorities, Chief Engineer HUDA, NHAI officials, Municipal Corporation and PWD officials.
In the meeting it was decided that the city’s drainage system needs to be reconstructed.
“Gurgaon’s drainage system needs to be properly constructed,” Singla said.
“We have suggested for clearance & desilting of Badshahpur drain & Khandsa drain,” he added.
Also, the Gurugram police has decided to take additional measures to avoid a similar situation in future.
“14 crucial points have been chosen mainly on the NH8 and NH248A and forces deployed 24×7 for the same,” a Gurgaon Police official said in a statement.
“At each point inspector rank officers deployed along with police as per requirement of each spot. Duties are in 2 shifts.”
“Detailed plans made to avert any jam like situation during rainy season due to flooding of roads, including NH 8 & 248A,” the official added.
