Samajwadi Party veteran leader Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday said that it was a ‘mistake’ to make his son Akhilesh Yadav chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He also blamed the alliance with congress for the ‘poor’ of the party.
“Things would have been different if I had been the chief minister,” he added.
Mulayam Singh Yadav says making Akhilesh CM was a ‘mistake’, blames Congress for SP woes
“the Congress left no stone unturned to ‘ruin’ his life, Akhilesh forged an alliance with the party in the run up to the assembly polls,” he also added.
“Alliance with Congress is responsible for the present poor state of the party. I had advised Akhilesh not to go ahead with it but he did so. The SP is itself responsible for its defeat and not the people of the state”, he said in Mainpuri.
Mulayam went to Mainpuri to unveil a statue of martyr Dharmendra Yadav in Junesa village in Karhal area.
Attacking the Congress further, Mulayam said, “Congress left no stone unturned to ruin my life. It (Congress) lodged cases against me and Akhilesh forged alliance with it”.
“Meri galti thi, humen hi banna chahiye that mukhyamantri, to aaj ye sthiti paida nahi hoti. Akhilesh ko CM bana diya, samjha kabhi banega nhi. 224 se 47 seeten, wo bhi jab hum chale gye Jaunpur & Shivpal ke liye chale gye. (It was my mistake that I made Akhilesh chief minister. From 224 we were reduced to 47. And it is when I went to Jaunpur for supporting Shivpal. I should have been the chief minister.),” Mulayam Sing also said.
