Increasing the heat on Pakistan after the death sentencing of alleged spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, India is planning to restrict granting visas to Pakistani citizens except in cases of medical needs.
The visa ban would impact Pakistani citizens travelling to India for leisure, tourism and cultural exchanges such as for cinema and sports. The government is also planning to review business and religious pilgrimage visas granted to Pakistani citizens, which had earlier been relaxed to a great extent.

The consideration of banning visas comes in the wake of suspension of other billateral engagements including cancellation of the maritime security dialogue announced yesterday.
Pakistan sentencing former Indian Navy official Kulbhushan Jadhav to death and denying consular access strained the delicate relations between the two nations. Subsequently, India has make several attempts to intervene on behalf of Jadhav, but to no success.
Although the visa ban will cost India, both Home Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister have assured that the government will go to any length to provide justice to Jadhav.
