CBI has launched separate probes in ‘preliminary enquiries’ (PE) against Delhi deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and health Minister Satyendar Jain on the reference of former Delhi lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung over allegations of corruption against both AAP leaders.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s trusted associate Sisodia has been brought under the scanner for alleged irregularities regarding a contract given to a private firm for a social campaign launched for Kejrwal ‘Talk to AK’ which was created in the style of PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ to provide a direct contact from leaders to the public. According to sources, a massive Rs 1.5 crore payment was made for the social media campaign which creates a liability for the state government.

The probe and PE against Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain concerns the allegedly irregular appointment of his daughter Saumya in the state health department as an advisor to mission director, state health mission, department of health and family welfare, despite her having no experience in health sector and having a background in the field of architecture.

The timing of the probes may increase friction between the Aam Aadmi Party and the central government as AAP is currently fielding elections in Goa and Punjab and the probes may be interpreted in a negative manner.
