Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Wednesday that Parthiv Patel will replace the injured Wriddhiman Saha in third Test against England in Mohali.
The third Test will commence from November 26 in which Saha is being replaced with Parthiv, as Saha got injured recently during the Vizag Test. Saha was hit by a strain in left thigh occurred during the match.
Since MS Dhoni’s retirement from Test cricket in December 2014, Saha has been the preferred wicketkeeper.
31 year old Parthiv played his last 20 Test matches in August 2008 in Sri Lanka.
“I’m happy to be back, it feels great when performance is rewarded,” Parthiv told TOI Sports from Hubballi, where his team Gujarat are playing defending Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai.
Parthiv has been a consistent run-scorer and star batsman in domestic cricket after he was dropped from the Test squad in 2008. He has made a whopping 800runs in 2008-09 and 2009-10 domestic seasons. He has also scored 415 runs in eight innings at an average of 59.28 in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
