Politics Over OROP Suicide: Rahul Gandhi, Manish Sisodia not allowed to meet ex-jawan’s family

Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was on Wednesday detained by the Delhi Police during his visit to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.

Sisodia had gone to the RML hospital to meet the family of Ex-Serviceman Ram Kishan Garehwal who committed suicide on Tuesday night after leaving a suicide note blaming the delay in the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme for his actions.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at PM Modi and asked if the deputy CM of a state goes to condole the death of someone, would he be arrested.

  Meanwhile, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi also reached RML Hospital to meet the family of the deceased. Moreover, Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Kiran  Chaudhary was also detained along with Rahul Gandhi. Ram Kishan had allegedly consumed poisonous substance and was rushed to RML Hospital directly from Jantar Mantar but was declared brought dead by doctors. In his suicide note, Garehwal wrote “People of the same rank are getting more pension than me,” and said that despite promises, the government has not been able to correct the discrepancies in pensions. According to Ram Kishan’s friends, Grewal had been upset over the issue for some time. Ahead of Manish Sisodia’s Detention, now Rahul Gandhi also got detained after visiting RML hospital.
