Chikungunya Outbreak Is Created By Media, Alleges Delhi Health Minister

On one side, municipal corporation on Monday revealed that in total 1,057 cases of chikungunya have been reported in the capital, on the other side, health minister Satyendra Jain believes that there is no putbreak in the capital and all the panic has been created by media.

While addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Jain said “There is no outbreak (of chikungunya). It has been created by you (media) by spreading panic.”

Challenging media, Jain said “There has never been any death due to chikungunya in the World. This is media created panic. Please don’t spread panic.”

Jain’s PC came amid reports of him being in Goa for the upcoming polls campaigning.

According to reports, Jain returned only this evening from Goa, where he had gone to oversee the Aam Aadmi Party’s preparations for next year’s assembly elections.

Reports claim that four people have died of chikungunya in the capital this month. At least 10 people have died of dengue and malaria and hospitals are overflowing with patients.
