Even with his little buddy on the mend, The Rock isn’t pulling any punches.
Filling in on an appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s new talk show for Kevin Hart after the comedian sustained major injuries in a car accident almost two weeks ago, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson let everyone know that he’s been in contact with his past and future co-star.
“Everything is good, I spoke with Kevin, I actually refer to him as my son,” he said. “And you know what? These things happen in life, and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat. That’s real love.”
The pair starred together in both Central Intelligence and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Hart also had a brief cameo in Johnson’s action juggernaut Hobbs and Shaw, and the pair will both appear in the upcoming Jumanji: The Next Level.
As much as he always loves to joke around with Hart—the two constantly jab each other back and forth on social media—it’s clear that the pair also actually have a legitimate friendship. Johnson told Clarkson again that he’s wishing his friend a quick recovery and that he’s glad that all things considered, it seems like he’ll be OK.
“I love the guy, he’s one of my best friends,” he told Clarkson. “I mean, thank God, it could’ve been a lot worse. So, he’s a lucky man, and he knows it too. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery and I’m gonna see him soon.”
