It’s Friday night and you know what that means for your loyal Above the Law staff:
Anyway, what firm hasn’t offered a full match yet?
I guess it’s Covington. We’ve been told there’s no memo, but a quick “how do you do” email at the end of the day (HA! As if a lawyer’s day ends before 10 on a Friday!) informing Covington’s U.S. offices that they’ll be matching with summer bonuses. As a quick refresher, Covington’s U.S. offices are in Washington, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles. For the tipsters raising the valid point that the Bay Area — one of the rare non-NY markets that actually deserve top salaries — has largely lagged behind on this round of raises, here’s your big moment.
We’ve wondered whether or not firms would use the 2018 adjustment to recalibrate and start paying NY and DC (and SF) more than the smaller markets that reached (bizarre) parity in 2016. Covington, at least, isn’t going there. Will another firm?
Welcome to the wild and wooly world of associate salaries!
If your firm matches (or exceeds!) please text us (646-820-8477) or email us (subject line: “[Firm Name] Raises Salaries”). Please include the memo if available. You can take a photo of the memo and send it via text or email if you don’t want to forward the original PDF or Word file.
And if you’d like to sign up for ATL’s Bonus Alerts (which is the alert list we’ll also use for salary announcements), please scroll down and enter your email address in the box below this post. If you previously signed up for the bonus alerts, you don’t need to do anything. You’ll receive an email notification within minutes of each bonus announcement that we publish. Thanks!
