London: The Extradition Hearing of absconding Indian tycoon Vijay Mallya is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Westminster Magistrate’s Court in the capital city of England.

The hearing that had already been delayed will take place in the afternoon.

It is to be mentioned that that Mallya was arrested in London on an extradition warrant in April last after India had launched formal proceedings against him earlier this year.

The absconding businessman is wanted in connection with a number of serious charges including defaulting on bank loans amounting to Rs. 9,000 crore.

Mallya was, however, granted bail in the case.

It isto be recalled that Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had highlighted the seriousness with which India took the issue of defaulters, during his visit to the country earl;ier this year.

He, however, had not made any direct reference to Vijay Mallya.
