IPL 10 KKR vs RPS: Tripathi’s storm hits Kolkata in its den

Kolkata: It was the second defeat of Kolkata Knight Riders in its den and third consecutive win for Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League- 10 match at Eden Gardens here on Wednesday.

Chasing 156, RPS was always in the hunt. At one hand seniors were struggling with the pace and bounce while on the other hand, Rahul Tripathi played a pivotal role in chucking the target. He hit nine fours and seven biggies in his awe-inspiring 52-ball 93-run knock.

Other than Tripathi, only Rahane (11) and Stokes (14) reached the double figures.  Big names including Steven Smith (9), MS Dhoni (5) and Manoj Tiwary (8) fell without contributing much to the side.

For KKR, Chris Woakes was the leading wicket-taker with bowling figures of 3/18. Umesh, Narine and Kuldeep bagged one-wicket each.

Earlier, Disciplined bowling by Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) restricted the Kolkata Knight Riders to a total of 155 runs.

Rahul Tripathi was given Man of the Match for his spectacular performance.

The bowling side took wickets at regular intervals to not let the partnerships flourish, hence keeping themselves in the dominating position in the game.

KKR got early blows in form of Sunil Narine and Sheldon Jackson. Skipper Gautam Gambhir remained on the crease for a long but was caught on the boundary at the indicidual score of 24 runs.

Manish Pandey (37 runs off 32 balls), Grandhomme (36 runs off 19 balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (16 off 30 balls) help KKR built a respectable total for their team.

For RPS, Unadkat and Washington Sundar took two wickets each, while Stokes, Tahir and Christian plucked a wicket each.
