Mumbai: Miffed by the call of Azaan by a loudspeaker near his residence, singer Sonu Nigam could not stop himself from taking his rage to his twitter account on Monday morning.
He stated the use of Loudspeakers for disseminating sermons and calls for prayer in temple, Mosque and Gurudwaras as an act of hooliganism, ‘Gundagardi’.
“Gundagardi hai bus (it is hooliganism),” he posted on Twitter on Monday.
The 43 year old singer said these loudspeakers should stop being the reveille for common people and described such acts as ‘forced religiousness’
“God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India,” Nigam tweeted.
In another tweet he wrote, “And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam… Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison?”
Irrespective of his religious background singer demanded an end to the use of electricity as a wake up call for any atheist.
“I don’t believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity to wake up people who don’t follow the religion why then..? Honest? True?” he tweeted.
