PCB suspends pacer Mohd Irfan in spot fixing case

Islamabad: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Tuesday suspended pacer Mohammad Irfan finding his involvement in spot fixing during the second edition of Pakistan Super League.

Apart from Irfan, left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar (Quetta Gladiators) and opening batsman Shazaib Hassan (Karachi Kings) were also questioned by the anti-corruption unit of PCB.

He is charged with two violations of Code Article 2.4.4 and has been given a time of 14 days to respond to the notice.

The PCB’s anti-corruption code 2.4.4 states: “Failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code.”

Earlier in 2010, Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif were imprisoned following their involvement in the spot-fixing case in the Lord’s Test against England.

Amir, however, was taken aback by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
