Jalaun/ Hamirpur: Expressing disappointment over not being able to contest Uttar Pradesh elections from Bundelkhand region, Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday said that the circumstances forced me to strike down my wish.
The UP CM addressed two rallies here and spoke his heart out over not being able to represent Bundelkhand in the Vidhan Sabha.
Earlier, there were talks that Akhilesh might field himself from Mahoba, Lalitpur or Jhansi districts as the SP candidate for the UP polls. At that point of time, the political circles were rife with speculations after Bundelkhand unit of SP requested him to contest from the region and he also expressed his desire of going there.
In his speech, he tried to remind people that last time he visited the region, he gifted the people with proper roads.
Claiming that the SP-Congress alliance has frightened Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Akhilesh said, “BJP did nothing for the people who died in the bank and ATM queues due to its senseless decision of demonetisation.”
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to give Rs 15 lakh to each poor of the country, but not even a single penny has been given yet. The central government has also failed in protecting our borders,” claimed the UP Chief Minister.
