Wild Night Out is back again, and this year it takes place on Saturday 1st July 2017. Read on to find out what it is and how to get involved.
Wild Night Out is a night – and day – of wild adventure, where people of all ages and abilities are encouraged to #GetOutside and get inspired. You could go for a walk, kayak down a river, explore a National Park, jump in muddy puddles, go Geocaching, get on your bike, climb a tree, try something new…the possibilities are endless!
And when darkness falls, the fun can continue with a night out under the stars. You don’t have to head to the countryside, why not pitch a tent in your garden? Or if you want to be more adventurous try wild Camping with friends.
Why is it important to get wild?
Research by OS has shown that less and less people, especially young people and children, are getting outside and visiting the countryside and green spaces on offer in Britain. Did you know that only a third of children in Britain spent more than an hour a day outdoors and that more than a third of children have never been camping? That makes us sad, as the benefits kids (and adults!) get from spending time outdoors really shouldn’t be underestimated.
Wild Night Out encourages everyone, of all ages, abilities and experience to get outside and enjoy a night (and day) of wild adventure on Saturday 1st July 2017.
Taking part is a great excuse to get outside so If you’d like to take part, all you need to do is register for the OS Wild Night Out 2017 here.
