Visiting the Klcc area can be as fun without paying for the expensive tickets to visit the Skybridge and observation deck in PETRONAS Twin Towers.
We arrived at KLCC Light Rapid Transit (LRT) Station after taking the train from KL Sentral. Suria Klcc, which has an exit to KLCC Park, is only a short walk away from the station.
Photos, Photos and Lots of Photos in KLCC Park
We headed over to KLCC Park right away because we wanted to take a glimpse of the twin towers and the park before it gets too hot.
To get to the park, you need to take a lift or the escalators to the Ground (G) Level before heading to the center of the shopping mall where the bubble lifts are located. Once you are there, you should see the entrance to the park.
Lake Symphony, a large man-made lake with water fountains greeted us as we entered the park. Many visitors were taking pictures around the lake and yes, most of them are trying to get a snapshot of the twin towers too.
The fountains are beautiful. Turning ourselves around, we saw PETRONAS Twin Towers standing majestically in front of us.
We sat down on the steps beside the lake to enjoy the scenery and to take out my camera. We posed and as photography newbies, we spent a long time snapping a lot pictures in front of the lake and the fountains.
We also took a few pictures of the towers. We tried taking a few pictures of ourselves with the towers but none of them was successful. The towers are simply too tall and we were too close to them.
The view gets better for photos with every step we take to move ourselves away from the towers and deeper into the park. By the time we started exploring the park, we already took close to 50 photos.
Strolling Around KLCC Park Under the Morning Sun
Moving beyond the man-made Lake Symphony, things slowed down a little.
There were very little visitors strolling around the park because it was close to noon.
There were plants of different species and trees that we don’t expect to see in the city center.
We enjoyed the stroll. The twin towers were beautiful every time we looked back at them. We took many more pictures as we wandered deeper into the park.
There are several filtered water stations located along the jogging tracks. This was welcoming because the hot and sunny weather was starting to take a toll on us.
We spent about 30 minutes wandering around the park. The combination of the towers in the near distance as well as the various plants, trees and man-made water features brought about many photography opportunities.
Children Enjoying Themselves in the Park
There is a children’s playground and a wading pool about 20 to 30 minutes away from the park’s entrance at Suria KLCC.
Although there were many people having a great time at the wading pool when we walked by, it was not crowded at all, especially if you take into account that it doesn’t cost a dime to use the pool.
We didn’t join in the fun but looking back, we probably should at least dip our feet into the water or pose for some romantic photos like the couple in the picture below. Can you spot them?
Moving past the pool, we were quite surprised to see how large and well-maintained the children’s playground was. Again, due to the timing of our visit, most kids would rather spend time at the wading pool instead of the playground.
Wandering Around in Suria KLCC
We spent about 30 minutes at the park before the heat becomes unbearable.
Heading back to Suria KLCC, we decided to grab a light meal before heading towards The WOLO Hotel, our hotel in Bukit Bintang, on foot.
Foursquare suggested this little cafe in Isetan called Caffé Gino and we decided to give it a try.
I just wanted to have a cup of coffee so we ordered a cup of hot latte and a cheese tart. They were nothing fancy but at least we will not get hungry for the next few hours.
This is not the first time we have been to Suria KLCC, but after the short break at Caffé Gino, we took a stroll around the mall. That day was the first time we pay attention to the details of the mall’s architecture.
There are many shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur but tourists tend to visit Suria KLCC for their retail therapy because of its prime location. Of course, the twin towers added some extra points too.
The outdoor and interior decors for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri were already up and they definitely added some local colors to the mall.
Heading to Bukit Bintang on Foot
After spending about an hour in the mall, we began our short walk to Bukit Bintang, which is where our hotel for the night is located.
You can read all about it in our next post.
