Where to stay in Moscow, Russia: Funky Antihostel Cosmic

Inside of Sleeping capsule: electric plugs, lamps, shelf, mirror, pillow and blanket.
(REVIEW) Moscow is one of the most expensive cities in the world, but also favourite travel destination for everyone who wants to get taste of this huge country that is not European nor Asian. If you come for days and not weeks, its important you stay close in the center so you save precious time. I stayed at Funky Antihostel Cosmic just few minutes of walk from the Red Square and all main attractions.

Its a bit hard to find this hostel at first, because its not directly visible from the Bolshoi Dmitrovka street, its a complex of several buildings (btw Tolstoy used to live here!), but its a great location right by the Bolshoi theatre and few minutes of walk to metro station Ochotny riad/Teatralnaya, GUM, Red Square, shopping malls and nightlife. The hostel is on 3rd floor of the historical building. There is kitchen with fridge, washing machine, fresh filtered water, TV in living room, two bathrooms (one with tube and othe one with shower) with hairdryers, sauna (great when you visit in fall or winter just as we did), three rooms with Sleeping Capsules (one called Mars, others Earth and Venus) and hall where the administrator sits and takes care of everything.

The whole place is also very funny with its Cosmic design and overall communication (all signs are funny and in cosmic design). I have slept in many hostels before and I have to say capsules are really great! First of all you have privacy, which is very rare for hostels. Your capsule is dark even when there is light outside (you can switch lamp inside), its comfy and you dont hear noise from the outside. You wont even realize there are other 6 people sleeping in the same room with you. There is also plug in your capsule and a shelf so you can play on your phone before going to bed. Of course there are also lockers for personal belongings in each room.

The staff is really nice, they speak good english and are always ready to help with some tips for traveling around Moscow. There were people from different countries which makes it perfect for socializing as well. Drinking alcohol as well as coming in drunk are prohibited, which is good as lot of hostels dont have this policy and then there are problems. I also really liked how the whole place is organized. I guess the owner visited many hostels before and knew what is important. For example all cabinets in kitchen are organized by room (Mars, Venus or Earth) and also there are special shelves for shared food so nobody steals your food, because everyone knows whats private and what is shared. For example tea, coffee and sugar and always there on table for everyone to take. We spent 3 days there and will be definitely back!
