What’s new at Walt Disney World 2017?

Pandora – World of Avatar

In the case of Walt Disney World, imagineers and insiders have been buzzing about Avatar Land opening in Animal Kingdom in the summer of 2017. “Pandora – World of Avatar” has been 3 years in the making and will be new at Walt Disney World 2017.

This Avatar themed area will span 12 acres on land in the southern quadrant of the park. James Cameron, Director and Producer of the Avatar films, has served as a creative consultant for the project for the last 2 years. Avatar Land will include aspects from the original Avatar film plus additional concepts from future Avatar movie sequels.

Two of the main areas of the park will include the Avatar Flight of Passage simulator and Na’vi River Journey boat ride. Disney park imagineers have promised a bevy of animatronics and 3D holograms throughout the World of Avatar attraction. Avatar Flight of Passage features learning to fly with a mountain banshee. Na’vi River Journey will focus on animatronics and flora and fauna native to Avatar Land.

Floating mountain ranges, alien wildlife and bioluminescent plants will provide the signature optical elements within the park.

Pandora – World of Avatar will also have its own retail and food and beverage outlets for patrons to enjoy. This promises to be a unique experience when Avatar is opened to Disney guests.

Miss Fortune Falls

Also new at Walt Disney World in 2017 will be Typhoon Lagoon –  Miss Fortune Falls. The Miss Fortune Falls attraction should open a few months earlier than World of Avatar. Miss Fortune Falls will be a family raft adventure ascending from the top of the water park to a whitewater filled area with Captain Oceaneer’s plunder.
