More details Expected in the next few days.
The Surge 2 will be released next year and promises “larger and more ambitious level design, more brutal combat, and an expanded limb-targeting system”, according to a post on the official Surge Facebook page.
May 2019 is the month the sequel is expected to land and improvements include “a bigger arsenal to overcome all the new enemies and bosses!”. The original game allowed the player to target specific body parts, resulting in a wider range of tactical combat choices – you could aim for a foe’s weak spot or opt for dismemberment if you wanted specific loot-based rewards, and the sequel promises to develop that system further.
A larger post on Focus’ forums teased a new backdrop for the game, this time taking place in “a sprawling, devastated city” with Deck13’s “upgraded and improved engine”.
As well as new weapons to help players battle their way through the unfamiliar environments, we can also expect more abilities, implants, and drones, along with deeper character progression.
Deck13 will share more details on the title at Focus Home Interactive’s annual Le What’s Next de Focus event, which takes place today and tomorrow.
The Surge was released last year and was a difficult sci-fi action RPG that inevitably drew comparisons with the Souls series thanks to its wily enemies, tough bosses, and the sheer number of deaths players were expected to rack up along the way.
