Hazrat Umar Bin Khattab

Read about Hazrat Umar Farooq in Urdu

Sayyiduna Umar’s patronymic is Abu Hafs and his title is Farooq-e-Azam. According to a narration, in the sixth year of the proclamation of Prophet-hood, he was the 40th person to embrace Islam. In fact, he embraced Islam by virtue of the supplication made by the Beloved and Blessed Prophet (May Peace and Blessings be upon Him) in his favor. By his accepting Islam the Muslims became very pleased and they got such a great support that the Beloved and Blessed Prophet (May Peace and Blessings be upon Him) offered Namaz openly in congregation with the Muslims inside the sacred Haram. He remained engaged in Islamic expeditions against wicked unbelievers with his splendid efforts. He contributed in all Islamic campaigns and in all strategic decisions of war and peace headed by the Noble Prophet (May Peace and Blessings be upon Him) as a faithful minister and comrade. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq nominated Sayyiduna Farooq-e-Azam as the caliph after him. He executed all the responsibilities of caliphate marvelously and proved to be the worthy successor of the Beloved and Blessed Prophet (May Peace and Blessings be upon Him).

One of the wicked unbelievers named Abu Lulu Firawz (a fire worshiper) attacked Farooq-e-Azam with a dagger during Fajr Prayer. He succumbed to the fatal injury and got the honor of martyrdom on the third day of the attack. At the time of death his blessed age was 63.

Sayyiduna Suhayb led his funeral Salah. On Sunday, the 1st of Muharram-ul-Haram, 24 Hijri, this great companion of the Great Prophet was buried beside Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq who had been resting beside the Beloved and Blessed Prophet (May Peace and Blessings be upon Him). (Ar-Riyad-un-Nadarah fi Manaqib Al-Asharah, vol. 1, pp. 285, 408, 418; Tarikh-ul-Khulafa, pp. 108, etc.)

May Allah bless them and forgive us without any accountability for their sake!
