A Year of Transitions

It has been one year….and God’s Grace always amazes me!

My first day at the university Campus was exciting and overwhelming. More than thirty thousand students would be on campus that day. Some were beginning their college career, others continuing it, and for some this would be their last year.  It did not matter whether they felt ready to leave the safe haven of the past several years and the friendships they had established.  It was time to move on.

Last year I completed my four-year journey. I graduated with a bachelor of science in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering. Walking down the aisle with thousands of other graduates felt similar to my first day- bittersweet.  I was excited to have completed my journey successfully but nervous knowing this was the end. There were a lot of great memories and tough times behind me. Now the campus that I had become accustomed to bid me farewell.

It was not long before other big changes followed. The Lord positioned me with a new life in Florida, 1200 miles away from my comfortable home in Iowa- the place where I was born and raised. A new career, a new state, a new church, an expansion to my ministry, and a new life.  Everything was changing.

As I complete my first year in Florida and also the first year in the pursuit of a masters in divinity, I am amazed at how much has happened. I have found God’s grace and God’s favor. All the years of working towards and preparing for God’s purpose for my life are yielding fruit. Every day I am amazed at God’s grace and I declare that greater things will come.

What about you? Where in the process are you?  Are you still ‘in school’ preparing for your future?  Out of school figuring out your next steps?  Or in between?  Jeremiah 29:11 states that God’s plan is to give us a future of hope and well-being.  That future is a product of obedience to God’s will and our hard work. No matter where in the process you are, keep going.  Whatever stage of life you are in, just know that what you do today, determines your tomorrow. Soon your efforts will yield their fruit and God’s perfect will shall be manifested in your life.
