When encountering immense stress - Daily-Message

When encountering immense stress
“And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep. And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And He saith unto them, ''Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.'' (Matthew 8:24-26)
At our transport company one already notices the fact that Easter is approaching. The orders are beginning to grow steadily and the market for available trucks are simultaneously decreasing. Accordingly, the workload is increasing and becoming more stressful. Instead of eight or nine hours, I now find myself working more than eleven hours a day and still not managing to do everything that should be done in any given day.

All of us are familiar with such situations at work or in life in general, when our circumstances causes stress. Stress can also be caused through general worries, financial worries, worries about other people or situations. But, also problems with loved ones or unloving people can cause stress.

In today's scripture the disciples are also experiencing stress. When they were in the boat, a violent storm arose and they feared for their lives.

They went to Jesus, who was with them in the boat, and asked Him to help, to take action against the symptoms of their stress. And Jesus did precisely what the disciples needed, He rebuked the winds and the sea, it became calm, and they were no longer in danger.

Exactly this is what we need to do when we find ourselves in a stressful situation: We can turn to Jesus and ask Him to do something about it.

In Matthew 11:28 we read the words of Jesus: “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus is the One who wants to give us rest and peace. With Him we can offload everything which oppresses us or stresses us out. He alone can give us the peace we long for when we experience such stress.

I wish you a peaceful day under the blessing of God. [mehr]
