“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true Worshipers will Worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.” John 4:23 (NIV)
Some who profess to be followers of Jesus only go through the motions of worshiping God. It is true, we all find ourselves sometimes just doing what we have been doing over and over when we worship at church among other believers. These words spoken by Jesus were true when he spoke them while on Earth and they are just as true today. We are called to remember that real worship is more than reciting creeds, set prayers or songs according to a calendar or book of worship. These can be very meaningful if they are done as true worship. True worship involves our inner being, our spirit. We are called to put our hearts into our worship and really be in touch with God in Spirit and in Truth. God knows us so well and He promises to respond when our hearts are right. In church, small gatherings, or in private worship, when there is real spiritual contact our worship is true worship and pleases our God. It honors Him as it is the kind of worshipers he wants us to be.
