You know, I get a chuckle when I get a comment like, “You seem so sure of yourself”, or even “You are full of yourself”. Seems to me that I am in good company:
13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.
~Ac 4:13
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
~Mt 11:25
14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the Temple, and taught.
15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
~Jn 7:14-15
We have a world of “experts” who continually seem to think they know something about their subjects. And, why not? After all, doesn’t a Doctor go to school for years in order to do just that? That doesn’t mean all doctors are good at what they do, but there certainly is a better than average chance that a doctor will be correct about something far more often than the beggar on the corner. The main difference is that one has studied the topic, whereas it is highly unlikely the other has.
Maybe you should be asking yourself: Are an expert in Christianity? If not, why not? Shouldn’t you be? How can you preach what you do not know? How will the unconverted ever be convinced if you yourself cannot prove it?
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Who is commended in the Bible? Those who seek or those who remain ignorant?
11 These [Bereans] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
~Ac 17:11
Notice how the Bereans were commended for studying to see “whether those things were so” because they had an open mind. They did not set out with a critical viewpoint to reject what was being taught upon the slightest “error” (most Bible “errors” are easily proven to be not errors at all but the splitting of hairs by men with ulterior motives). Neither did they take anyone’s word for it, but rather they searched it out and proved it for themselves.
Which camp are you in? The one of ignorance or the one God commends?
