From our ancient days we find Indians eating on Leafs like banana, pupil, and banyan Tree Leaves. It is considered to be auspicious and healthy eating on leaves. We serve food on banana leaves during festivals and even marriages. In leaves there are many ayurvedic properties, like banana leaves are filled with anti-oxidant properties (polyphenols) which help fighting cancer cells.
Banana tree leaves are used on many ayurvedic medicines, when hot food is served on this leaf, chemical reaction happens which brings good to stomach. Also it brings a kind of aroma to food. In south India people consume a lot of liquid foods like rasam, sambar etc. as banana leaf is water proof and large enough people prefer them.
Apart from health benefits, south India has huge cultivation of banana trees and is easily available in all seasons. Also it has anti-bacterial properties and eco-friendly.
According to our ancients if you have food on pupil tree leaves, you will be rid of diseases related to private parts (lower). Also children will attain good talking power. Also if you eat on moduga leaves (in telugu), Butea monosperma tree leaves, you will get rid of eye related diseases. If you eat on leaves stitched with banyan tree leaves, it’s considered to be healthy. Eating on green leafy vegetables will kill harmful bacteria in stomach with the reaction of chlorophyll content in leaves. Whatever our ancients followed have hidden facts and secrets, so we should never make of fun instead we should try to know the hidden meaning of it.
