“Please take from me my life… when I don’t have the Strength to give it away to You…
Please take from me my life… when I don’t have the strength to give it away to You, Jesus”
I so remember singing this Song to the Lord years ago and asking the Holy Spirit to forever bond my relationship with the Savior. I was asking Him to bond me to the cross, so I would never be tempted to turn away from trust and total devotion to Him. No matter what, I would never want to abandon Him. Never.
After years of walking in the wilderness, it’s not a stretch to say I am at times weary and worn out from the battle. BUT GOD!! whenever I go off course in my thinking, or let my feelings and emotions make me stumble, God always plants me right back on the narrow road. So many times the enemy tried to take me out, but what can I say? He is faithful!
It’s easy to embrace the cross when things go your way. I see now that asking the Holy Spirit to “please take my life when I don’t have the strength to give it away to you” was the wisest thing I could have ever done. While my song was genuine and heartfelt, at the time I didn’t totally understand what I was asking. I didn’t grasp the depth of what I was asking. But life happened. Being in the school of hard knocks will give you truth and understanding. Now I can honestly tell you that He gave me what I asked for. He granted me much love for the cross and made me a humble partner with Him in His pain and sorrows.
Here is the song I first fell in love with many years ago…
