     It's the Same Old Argument

An Italian, firm believer in yushka- (x-ianity) came up to me at the Tefillin table. He wanted to talk about tefillin. I told him that tefillin were for Jews and that he would be better off learning what G-d wanted him to know.

I asked him, "Where is G-d?"

     He answered, "In my heart."

"And what about your feet? Is He in your feet?"

     He was stumped.

I explained, "G-d is Infinite. That means He has no ends. That means He is everywhere. Where is G-d?"

     He said, "Everywhere"

     Is He in the grave?

(Remember, their book says yushka was executed hanging on a pole. He was buried, and a few days later he went to heaven, and his grave was left empty.)

     He answered, "No."

"Your god is a little god. He is not everywhere! The G-d of the Torah teaches that G-d is everywhere. Where is G-d?"

    "Everywhere."
    "Is He in the grave?

    "No"

"Don't you see what you are saying? You say that G-d is everywhere, but He is not in the grave! Don't you see your contradiction? Your god is not everywhere, so you are worshipping an idol"

He brought over an Italian, black, catholic priest, and pointing to the priest he said, "He's a father."

I asked him the same questions, and he gave the same answers, "god is everywhere, but he is not in the grave."

I said, "You're nuts! You are totally contradicting yourself, and it doesn't bother you at all!"

They walked away very upset with me.
