Noise
The Talmud gives us a very clever metaphor to explain humility.
"The charity box with the fewest Coins makes the most noise."
Have you ever been in a room where a number of men were going around shaking their metal charity boxes trying to draw attention to their request for charity? A box full of coins makes almost no sound at all, while a box with only one or two coins makes a huge racket as the coins bang around from side to side.
People with few accomplishments feel that they have to make a lot of noise so they will be seen.
