Reiki is an ancient Japanese practice Promoting healing and relaxation, derived from two Japanese words Rei meaning (god) and Ki meaning (life force), and is now becoming more popular in holistic practice.

Reiki is used through Energy and symbols each symbol having its own unique energy, each person has their own life force energy and a Reiki practitioner is trained to tap into this energy and promote balance and healing through it, as this life force energy is the whole it can be used to balance mind, body and spirit.

The most popular form of Reiki is Usui and is named after the Japanese Buddha Mikao Usui and is traditionally practiced through the hands with practitioners using the universal energy bringing it through their palms and directing it into the area of healing.

Though it is important to state that in order to receive Reiki you do not have to physically touch the person receiving Reiki, it can be done through distance healing or with a hands on technique if you prefer.

There are three levels of attunement to become a Reiki master, though you can start to practice Reiki after your first attunement. The final attunement to Reiki master enables you to attune others into Reiki that would like to offer this type of holistic healing. Each step you will be attuned by a Reiki master as these are the only people who are able to attune new Reiki practitioners, using their knowledge of the symbols and universal energy and passing it on.

Reiki level one is more for the purpose of understanding the history of Reiki and what it is about, how to use the energy and is more for those who want to practice personal use or with close family members and friends, once you have passed this level you may want to go on to level two.

Level two Reiki is a deeper form of understanding with the universal energy and how to emit this into distance healing and helping others with any issues they might have, as you go into level two your understanding of the energy and how to use it more broadly will increase enabling you to broaden your practice.

Level three the master teacher level will enable you to pass on your teachings of Reiki to others and attune them into Reiki. Once you get to complete this level you will receive manuals to attune others and your lineage of attunement leading back to Mikao Usui.

This is a good thing to have to show your progression in reiki. Reiki is a wonderful practice with many who have received this energy and healing feeling much lighter and uplifted, with a more rounded feeling of upliftment. It is always important to remember this is a holistic healing practice and not an alternitive to seek medical treatment if you feel you need it. Embarking on Reiki comes with great responsibility and awareness and should always be respected and followed as it is intended.
