Interview with Robin Deutsch Edwards, Co-Chair of the Atlanta Repair Advisory Council

Robin Deutsch Edwards (she/her)

What got you involved with Repair? Why did you choose to be on the advisory board?

When our family moved back to Atlanta in 2017 I learned Repair was coming to town and asked to be part of the local launch. As Repair has grown in our city I have been involved in many different ways including setting up communication tools, leading annual communication training for incoming Fellows, planning MLK service efforts and, of course, volunteering with my family. I have also gotten involved in a storytelling taskforce for Repair national. Joining the Atlanta advisory board was a natural next step in the work of helping Repair thrive in Atlanta.

If you were going to teach a skill to Fellows or Corps Members, what would it be?

I love helping people and organizations tell their stories. For Fellows or Corps Members their time with Repair the World becomes an important part of their personal and professional narrative. And so both during their work with Repair – and then as alumni, Fellows and Corps Members are some of the best ambassadors for the incredible work that is happening in the Repair the World network.

Where is your favorite place to volunteer?

Anywhere with my kids who are 8 and 9. For our family, volunteer opportunities are one way that we get a wider lens on the world and understand the obligation we have to give the time and resources we have to offer. Each time we volunteer together – whether one-time events, virtual volunteering or the ongoing efforts we participate in each month – the kids deepen their perspective on the complex world in which we live.
