In you plan on coming to Muddenahalli, you will need to book a flight to Bangalore (or Bengalaru as it is now called). We understand that there are some good deals on various internet sites like www.kayak.com, www.cheapoair.com or with a travel agent.

Travel Dates
The main Birthday program is between 11/18 through 11/23. Prior to that is Akhanda Bhajans on the 11th/12th, and Youth Meet on the 15th/16th/17th. The general public is allowed to attend the talks at the Youth Meet, which are wonderful as they have spiritual leaders from throughout India who come to speak. Swami in the past has attended the opening ceremony and the closing.
Birthday is on 11/23, as you know, and Birthday celebrations often run very late and sometimes into the next day. Interviews are also held on 11/24 and you would not want to miss this opportunity, if it should arise. Swami may also be leaving on 11/24 or 11/25 for Mumbai for the bhoomi puja for the new hospital.
Transportation Costs from the Bangalore Airport to the Shivas Gateway or Presidency Hotels
According to the Presidency Hotel website, they have an airport shuttle that runs from the Bangalore Airport to the hotel and back for RS 450.
For those not staying at the Presidency Hotel, who have two or more people in their group, or prefer having a taxi driver waiting for them when they arrive at the Bangalore airport, Ferros at Ahmed Travel (nahmedtravels@gmail.com), (phone: 0091 9 845214429 ) will provide a small non AC taxi to pick you up at the hotel and drop you off at the Shivas Gateway Hotel or the Presidency Hotel for RS 750. The journey takes 15 minutes.
If booking with a taxi service, you may want to book your pick up and drop off at the same time. Sending them an electronic copy of your airplane ticket when booking a taxi helps avoid confusion and mistakes, and is recommended.

They also have a Tempo Traveler 12 seater for RS 4,450 or approximately RS 380/day per person.
Going to Puttaparthi
Many of you may want to go to Puttaparthi, either before or after Birthday. There are many advantages of going to Puttaparthi directly after getting off the airplane. Puttaparthi is a foreign friendly village with many English-speaking vendors and is easy to navigate, and familiar to most. Money can easily be exchanged in Puttaparthi. Prescriptions, clothes and other items can be easily purchased at the Pranshanti Niliyam Shopping Complex or in the village.

The journey from the Bangalore airport to Puttaparthi is 2 ½ hours. Hotel prices have dropped a lot in Puttaparthi. Today you can get a non AC room with breakfast included at Sai Towers for RS 650($10)/night. An AC room costs RS 1050 ($18). Prices may be higher for major events like Baba's birthday, and Puttaprthi may be crowded at the time of Baba's birthday, given that many are traveling to Puttaparthi to spend the entire Birthday period there.
Some cheaper hotels in Puttaparthi that you may want to check out are on the road the first left from the gate used to drive into the ashram. There are three hotels there: Sai Guest House Sri Pratiha, and another one. They costs RS 500 non AC and RS 800 for AC.
