While filming his most recent project, The Sacred Science, Nick Polizzi was intrigued by the exotic ingredients, cooking styles and recipes that he was exposed to as he worked in the Amazon rainforest of Peru. His fascination with the role that indigenous plants played in the culture of the tribes that he observed up close and personal led him to expand his scope and explore the traditional recipes of remote cultures all around the world. Taking note along the way of certain dishes, in a variety of cultures, that have passed the test of time, he realized a common theme. People passed family food traditions from generation to generation, not only because they tasted good, but because they nurtured health and wellness.
