Change Your Conduct, Renew Your Mind

Romans 12:1‭-‬2 NKJV
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which  is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Rom 12:2 is a well preached verse to remind us that we should not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. And there is much focus on changing the way we think so that our life can be transformed. It is even said that your life will change when your thinking change.

But the verse before that is the key step to take that will lead to our mind being Renewed. It actually starts with first our physical conduct.

Apostle Paul wrote in Rom 12:1 that we need to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. Eph 4:22-24 also parallels  this clearly to put off our former conduct, the corrupt and lustful ways, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind.

No wonder we struggle to change our thinking! We have missed an important first step to take the physical actions regarding our conduct. We need to first repent and no longer indulge in our sins. We have to stop doing certain old habits and cut away the wrong things that will not please God.

When a man continually walks in sin, he is not in right standing with God. How will he then be in a position to receive revelations from God and be renewed in his mind? Even the receiving of our salvation also starts from first repenting and asking God to forgive us of our sins.

Before we want our minds to be renewed by God and His word, let's reflect on our attitude, actions and lifestyle. Let's put away those corrupt ways but conduct ourselves such that it is holy and pleasing unto Him. As we do that we will be in the right position to receive revelations when we pray and read His word. Then our minds will be renewed and our life will be transformed.

Prayer:
God, I am sorry that I may have old habits and sins that I need to repent and I will now put them all away. Let my mind be renewed this day to receive fresh revelations from You. Amen.

With Love & Blessings,
Hazel Ashley
