Putting Your Past Behind

It is always exciting to go on a holiday overseas. When you go travelling, you will try to travel as light as possible so that it will be easier and that you will have more luggage space to pack in new things from your shopping sprees. Every time when you return home, you will unload everything and empty your luggage, no matter how tedious it maybe.

Our life is like a travelling journal. In each life stage, it is like the beginning of a new journey and destination. We need to travel light to make our journey ahead lighter and easier. No one will travel with a luggage full of stuff from a previous trip.

Yet in life we may find ourselves carrying our past with us, despite moving on to another phase. These past burdens are emotional baggages. Whether you are aware of it or not, they weigh you down and affect you in your thinking, your beliefs and even in your decision making.

Just like making space in a luggage to put in new stuff from shopping sprees, you need to start unloading your past so that God can put new things into your present and propel you to the good future He has prepared for you.

In Luke 5:36 Jesus said no one puts new wine into old wineskins as the wine will be spilled and the wineskins will be ruined. New wine must be put into new wineskin. We need the word of God to renew our mind so that we can be ready for God to pour new things into our life.

2Cor 5:17 confirms that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation and old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Each day is a new beginning in God. You can never go back to change the past. Let us not keep looking back behind us. God will empower you to move on and move forward.

God is still writing the story of our life. We can believe and trust in Him that the end of the matter is better than the beginning. Our story will NOT end in pain and sorrow.

Declare that today is the day of a NEW CHAPTER and a NEW SEASON. The joy of the Lord is our strength. God has turned our sorrows into joy and our mourning into dancing. The more You looked unto Jesus and His eyes of love, grace and mercy, the more your fears and worries will fade away and FAITH will arise.

God is writing a new chapter in our life story. It is a chapter of OUR BREAKTHROUGHS & BLESSINGS, POWER & EMPOWERMENT. Focus not on our own limitations, but focus on the limitless possibilities of our Almighty, All-Powerful God! With men it is impossible, but with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

Philippians 3:7‭-‬14 NKJV
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I  do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, I lift up all my past hurts, disappointments, failures and burdens into Your loving hands. I look unto Jesus the author and finisher of my faith. Whatever happened in the past, I cannot go back to change it. But Lord, I am a new creation in Christ, old things have passed away and all things have become new. You have empowered me to let go of my past and today I allow You to have a full reign in my life. Restore my life, my dreams and my hope. I pray and trust in You that You will make all things work together for my good. Indeed Your thoughts toward me are of good and not evil, to give me a future and a hope. I declare that I will fufill the great calling, destiny and purpose that You have prepared for me. In Jesus' name, Amen!

God bless,
Hazel Ashley
