I have always been a fan of Bishop TD Jakes and watch his sermons on YouTube frequently. His messages are always inspiring and uplifting. I have read some of his books, and they are always informative. I have recommended one of his books for single Women in a previous post. However, this latest book, When Women Pray, is another level inspiration, and an easy, amazing read. Let’s review it.

When Women Pray

This is a book that examines the lives of 10 amazing women in the Bible. They include well known women like Hannah and Sarah, to lesser known women like Anna and Rhoda. This book explores the stories of each of these women, and the role prayer played in their lives. Each woman’s story also carries a message about prayer. Rhoda’s prayer life is a grand display in the power of ordinary people’s prayers, while Mary’s prayer life shows us that when women pray, there is redemption. Each woman’s tale is an inspiration filled, easy to understand narrative. As I read each chapter, I found myself going back to the Bible to read their stories one more time.

Bishop T.D Jakes actually had women conduct a series of short, less than 15 minutes, exhortations on the book, which is amazing. You can see the entire series on his page HERE.

Recommend or Not

The purpose of this book is to encourage women in general not to cease praying. There is power in prayer and there are many awesome things that happen spiritually and physically when women pray. In a period of time when we, women, are finding our voices and taking more control of our lives, it is important that we rely on God. This book not only serves as an encouragement, but as also a manual or guide to praying ceaselessly and effectively. I would definitely recommend this book for young girls (probably 16 and above), and women of all ages.
