Stand for Justice

Are you a person who seeks out justice? It may not even be for a big issue, but something minor that you overhear, a group of people that you pass in the street. Maybe it is a big issue that needs constant discussion and someone like you to Fight for it. Think about it, what are some issues that you need to take a stand for? Which arguments cause you to fuse up and make you want to rant and complain to the first person you see? I know for myself, I have always put my foot down when it comes to talking about the topic of abortion. Especially now that I've had the experience to be pregnant and carry a child, the thought of anyone refusing to embrace this choice can get infuriating, no matter the reason. There's a reason we get this way when we are faced with big issues, as our God is a just God, and wants us to fight for the good of all humanity. What are you ready to take a stand and fight for?
Today's Gospel states:'"But woe to you Pharisees! for you tithe mint and rue and every herb, and neglect justice and the Love of God; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. Woe to you Pharisees! for you love the best seat in the synagogues and salutations in the market places. Woe to you! for you are like graves which are not seen, and men walk over them without knowing it." One of the lawyers answered him, "Teacher, in saying this you reproach us also." And he said, "Woe to you lawyers also! for you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers' (Luke 11:42-46).
Today's reading talks about how God is loving and just, and we too are created in His image and likeness to be the same. It is intertwined within our very genetic code as human beings, children of God. We are made to love and be loved, and when something messes with this goal, we feel the urge to fight against the barriers. Where is God calling you to be a fighter for justice in the world? Take some time today to pray and ask God to help you be a fighter for justice in the world.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this day, for the chance to live and show Your love within the world. Help me to be a person who fights for justice and show Your love through my actions.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
