Speak Wisely

Do you have a filter? Some people tend to Speak their mind, regardless of who it may hurt and the consequences that may result. Even if you are pretty good at having a filter and watching what you say, there may be times where you've been put over the edge and start to explode. We all have moments where we lose our filter, we speak our minds despite the harm that may come from it. When you think about it, though we may not always know how to usr this filter, it's definitely necessary for living a life of discipleship. If we were too scared to speak out against hate and evil and speak our minds about faith, we wouldn't be getting anywhere. God wants us to use our ability to speak wisely, and bring love yo the world through our words. How good are you at using your filter of words for good?
Today's Gospel states:'"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men; for they will deliver you up to councils, and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear testimony before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; and you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel, before the Son of man comes' (Matthew 10:16-23).
Today's reading talks about how we need to be wise when confronting others about our faith. It's always, always going to be a challenge. We're always going to come across people who make us want to scream sense to, want to scream ourselves, because they just can't see the good God has done for them. Even more so, we'll react about things that build up and don't really matter. It's important that we continue to do our best to speak wisely, as God's people and filter ourselves as respectful people who love. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you speak wisely.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for giving me this amazing life to love and be loved. Guide me in all that I do and say and help me to speak out wisely about my faith.
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
