Pay Attention to Prayer

Have you ever had those days where it feels like everything you say is just coming out wrong? Your words keep twisting, maybe you have a cough or cold that doesn't make communication any easier. You try to relay the fewest amount of words possible so to get your point accross and keeping others from thinking you crazy or from pitying you. I've definitely had days where words just seem lost, not coming out right, and if you're running on less than a desired amount of sleep, not only your words, but actions also become clumsy for the majority of the day. We've all been there, it's a normal part of human life. When it comes to a life of Prayer, we tend to do the same thing. We speak to God at the lost possible second, only when we're thinking about it. Even then, sometimes we get distracted and utter the fewest amount of words possible, just to make it feel like we've satisfied our prayer amount for the day. God wants us to do the opposite, to tell Him everything on our minds, good bad and ugly, even if we can't utter the words but silently relay a prayer. There's no way you can go wrong with prayer, it's just important to make the effort, all throughout your day. How's your prayer life going? Do you need to make some changes?
Today's Gospel states: 'Jesus said, “When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that will be heard because of their many words. like them, your Father knows what need before ask him."Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses' (Matthew 6:7-15).
Today's reading talks about how we need to pay a bit more attention and take more time into how we pray. Jesus tells us how to pray to God, relaying the Our Father prayer for us. He also tells us that it's important to keep praying, to build that relationship with God through our prayer. If you're not much of a talker, jumble your words, maybe have had a long day and feel exhausted to the bone, you can still find a method of prayer that works for you. Even if it is praying the traditional prayers before you go to bed, maybe having a conversation with God on your drive to work, we can all find that inspiring way to pray. Take some time to pray and ask God to help you to find a good way to pray.
Today we pray:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for showing me the that prayer is important in my life. Help me to find ways to pray continually so that I can grow more in relationship with You,
I pray in Your most holy name, Amen.
