Do you ever have those days where you feel you could have done better? You could’ve tried a little harder to comfort a friend, or maybe studied a little harder for a test. For University students like myself, every time exam season comes around, there’s always the stress of getting projects done, studying hard, having enough study time, while also having a life and responsibilities outside of school. It can be hard, stressful. Sometimes you may feel you don’t put in enough effort, but you give all you have right? What’s to do in these times? Do you stress over the fact you didn’t put in enough effort, or do you feel relieved, move on and learn from it? Do you ask God to help you move on, to learn from experiences and do better at your next opportunity?
Today's First Reading states:'For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, "Fear not, I will help you." Fear not, you worm Jacob, you men of Israel! I will help you, says the LORD; your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. Behold, I will make of you a threshing sledge, new, sharp, and having teeth; you shall thresh the mountains and crush them, and you shall make the hills like chaff; You shall winnow them and the wind shall carry them away, and the tempest shall scatter them. And you shall rejoice in the LORD; in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory. When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue is parched with thirst, I the LORD will answer them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers on the bare heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. I will put in the wilderness the cedar, the acacia, the myrtle, and the olive; I will set in the desert the cypress, the plane and the pine together; that men may see and know, may consider and understand together, that the hand of the LORD has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it'(Isaiah 41:13-20).
In today's reading we hear how the Lord wants to help us in every part of our lives. God can do everything, beyond what we could hope or imagine. In times where we don't feel we've done our best, God is loving us all the more and supporting us. Take some time to ask God to help you be strong and make improvements where you need to in your life.
Today's prayer comes from 'belief net' a prayer for self-improvement:
Dear God, It’s time for self-reflection. Let me examine my deeds clearly, look closely at myself, and improve my ways. I turn to You in repentance. May I be a better human being in the future than I am right now. Amen
