One Dollar Apologists

In one of Jim Wallace’s (Cold Case Christianity) recent posts he states the following:

“The Christian community is experiencing an apologetics
“renaissance”, and this resurgence of interest in Christian Case
Making is being driven by an unexpected group of “tent-making”
Christian Case Makers. Like the Apostle Paul, these avocational
apologists draw their income from “conventional” careers (Paul
was described as a tent-maker in Acts 18:1-3) as they
evangelize, preach, make a case or serve. I’m proud to be a
member of this growing group of “One Dollar Apologists ”. In this
post, I’d like to bring your attention to many of the tent-making
Case Makers having an impact in our world today. If you are
interested in apologetics, you’ve undoubtedly visited many of
the websites I’ve collected here. In fact, you may not have
realized these resources were being provided by people who are working in vocations similar to your own. As you scan this list of tent-making apologetics websites, take note of the variety of occupations held by the men and women behind the scenes:

Here is the actual post I quoted that contains a huge list of Christian resources you may or may not have been aware of:

You’ll also note that on the above link, there is an additional link to where another list of Christian Apologists is provided. Think Christian Resources!

You can download the list in a convenient PDF that maintains the links, which comes in handy as a future resource. I’m always amazed at the sheer amount of excellent Christian resources that is now readily available for any Christian that wants to learn more about the Christian walk of faith they have entered into. True, there is a huge amount of garbage out there on the Internet BUT there is also a huge amount of solid Christian instruction that can be made use of. This list that Jim Wallace has produced and others like Brian Auten at are excellent resources that can be trusted.

While I have your attention, I’d like to quickly add in one more critical Christian resource that specifically deals with Christian Discernment. In its simplest definition, discernment is nothing more than the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth. In other words, the ability to think with discernment is synonymous with an ability to think biblically.

First Thessalonians 5:21-22 teaches that it is the responsibility of every Christian to be discerning: “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.” The apostle John issues a similar warning when he says, “Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). According to the New Testament, discernment is not optional for the believer-it is required.

The key to living an uncompromising life lies in one’s ability to exercise discernment in every area of his or her life. For example, failure to distinguish between truth and error leaves the Christian subject to all manner of false teaching. False teaching then leads to an unbiblical mindset, which results in unfruitful and disobedient living-a certain recipe for compromise.

What with the onslaught of so called “Christian” books like “The Shack” plus the proliferation of non-biblical doctrines, having the ability to exercise Christian discernment is no longer a “nice to have” option. Before I give you some of my Christian Discernment links I do want to emphasize one thing, nothing substitutes the ability to discern Biblical truth like the study of the Holy Bible. Always make the reading and studying of the Bible your prime source and don’t forget prayer.

Good Discernment resources that I make use of are : is another. and  plus

There are other good resources available. I find that when researching a specific topic such as “The Shack”, looking at multiple resources provides a “rounded overview”, a consensus per sec, all of course, to be compared with what God’s Word actually says.
