Stunned by the Holy Spirit
I haven’t quite worked out what I think about this but it’s really making me think.
It’s so easy to think ‘If only Jesus would appear again on earth, if he were here and could speak to my friends, then they’d believe,’ but the evidence of the Bible contradicts that. An unusual man claiming to be God attracts far fewer followers than a bunch of flawed people empowered by the Holy Spirit. More people came to Christ through one sermon preached by a failed fisherman than through seeing the risen Christ in person.
Democracy is in decline everywhere
This year less than half of the world’s population lives in a democracy “of some sort.” While the margin is thin, a one percent swing would tip the scale; it is symbolic of the decline of democracy over the last decade. One-third of the global population lives in outright authoritarian regimes, primarily due to the massive population of the People’s Republic of China. The percentage of the world’s population that lives in a “full democracy” fell to less than five percent.
I’ve always been a citizen of a democracy which, historically speaking, is quite odd.

This is a very Swedish invention. This made me chuckle, “Erik Ahlström is one of the movers and shakers behind the trend. When he moved from Swedish Ski Resort town Åre to Stockholm, he thought the city looked like a dump.” I think compared to anywhere in the UK it’s incredibly clean. Although maybe it’s because we now have ploggers.
