Does traditional dating still exist?

We now live in a world where we can use the internet for pretty much everything. You need to do some food shopping? Do it online. You need to get medical advice? It can be done online too. And when it comes to dating, we have definitely seen a shift from the old Traditional ways to the new online methods. Being able to control things from our computers and mobile phones is making our lives easier indeed, but does this mean the death of the old traditional ways? Let’s take a look at how this applies to the world of dating.

Traditional dating

In the past we had to make the effort to go out to public places in order to meet new faces, especially when looking for a partner; might it be for love or just lust. Nightclubs and bars where often the best venues to meet face-to-face with strangers and having fun with them. There was a sense of making the effort, as going out implied spending money and you had to take your courage in hand and Chat to people if you wanted their attention. More often than not, you would end up walking home alone, but at least it was still a good night; and if you were successful at bringing a lady home, you really felt a well-deserved feeling of victory. Whilst being successful was hard, winning felt good and you knew how to appreciate any luck you could get.2

Modern dating

Take it a few years later and suddenly it is no longer necessary to go out, instead you can chat to new potential partners from the comfort of your own home computer. Now don’t get us wrong, going online for some dirty chat is exciting and it does bring us a lot of thrills, but this feels different than being face-to-face. The horny feeling is well and truly present, but the act doesn’t take as much courage as it would if the person was in the same room. It feels like things have been made easier as to cater for our own needs; and in truth they have. Dating websites want to help you to find the right person as it gives them a good reputation, so effectively they are helping you getting lucky; for a small fee of course. That fee might amount to some money, but it isn’t quite the investment you had to make when having to pay for a night out. Overall, it feels like things are just easier, and the chase is just a little bit less fun.

Back to the old school?

Despite the popularity of the internet, people still go out to bars and clubs, but that scene is far from being as thriving as it was before. Whether this is due to the higher cost of drinks and club tickets, or whether just find it cheaper to stay at home in front of Netflix, we can definitely see that the modern dating world has now taken over the traditional methods. This is not necessarily bad new though, as people can still go out to enjoy dancing on some loud music with their friends, finding a date when going out is just not as important anymore. Maybe there will be a return to traditional values, but this might take people taking a break from the web, which is where you are reading this article right now!
