Injury report: D’Andre Swift returns to practice, Kenny Golladay still out

A look at the initial Injury report for Week 13.

Though the Detroit Lions did place two key members of the team on injured reserve this week—cornerback Desmond Trufant and defensive tackle Danny Shelton—they could be getting some key players back this week, as well.

Chief among them is running back D’Andre Swift. The Lions second-round pick has missed the past two games with a concussion, but it appears he’s trending towards making his return this Sunday against the Chicago Bears. Swift was a limited participant in Wednesday’s Practice, meaning he could play this week provided he doesn’t have a setback.

Swift was just becoming an integral part of the offense prior to his injury. He had just tallied his first career start in Week 10, and responded with 149 all-purpose yards and a touchdown against the Washington Football Team. With offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell now the interim head coach, we could see a heavier load for Swift, as well.

Unfortunately, the Lions may still be another week or two without star receiver Kenny Golladay. He missed yet another practice as he continues to recover from a hip injury. Previously, Golladay has tried to practice, only to sit the following days. Bevell stopped short of saying he was suffering setbacks in recovery.

“I don’t know if you want to say ‘setbacks,’ I wouldn’t use that word,” Bevell said. “I would just say that you have to see how the body reacts the next day.”

Meanwhile, rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah remains out with a shoulder injury, as Detroit’s cornerback situation remains extremely thin. However, it appears Mike Ford is out of concussion protocol, as he was a full participant at practice.

Also trending in the right direction: Danny Amendola and Austin Bryant.

Here’s a look at the full Injury Report for Wednesday.

CB Jeff Okudah (shoulder) - No practice

DE Austin Bryant (thigh) - Limited
