Check out our picks for the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day classic
This Detroit Lions team remains almost impossible to predict. After Sunday’s win over the Carolina Panthers—a game in which everyone but Mike Payton predicted to be a loss—nearly the entire Staff sits at .500 or lower in predicting Lions games this season.
This week, we’re going to get some dubs, as the Pride of Detroit staff is pretty split for the Thanksgiving Game Classic. With Mitchell Trubisky out, it’s hard to know what to expect of a Bears offense led by a guy with nine years, but only two starts, of experience.
Of course, the Lions have a couple of impactful injury situations of their own. Marvin Jones Jr. and Kerryon Johnson have already been declared out, meaning Matthew Stafford will have his work cut out for him facing an already tough Bears defense. That’s not the team you want to be shorthanded against, but Stafford will have to lean on the likes of Kenny Golladay, Bruce Ellington (maybe), and Zach Zenner.
Still, six brave souls on our staff are still picking the Lions to win on Thursday while seven are taking the Bears. Here’s a look at our predictions.
Kellie Rowe (5-3): 27-13 Bears
Ryan Mathews (5-5): 24-17 Lions
Justin Simon (5-5): 24-23 Lions
Mike Payton (5-5): 21-17 Lions
Andrew Kato (4-4): No pick
Jeremy Reisman (4-6): 20-13 Bears
Kent Lee Platte (4-6): 37-10 Bears
Alex Reno (4-6): 30-17 Bears
Kyle Yost (4-6): 24-20 Lions
Hamza Baccouche (3-7): 29-23 Lions
Levi Blue (3-7): 34-24 Bears
Jerry Mallory (3-7): 23-13 Lions
Mansur Shaheen (3-7): 23-17 Bears
John Whiticar (3-7): 24-14 Bears
Chris Perfett (2-8): Sweet Potato Casserole (Bears) - Spoiled Gravy (Lions) (Bears win)
