Lions notes: Detroit finishes 18th in’s Power Rankings

The Lions don’t have a lot of hype behind them for 2018.

•’s Elliot Harrison has updated power rankings for which he describes as a mixture of how the teams finished in 2017 and their outlook for 2018. The Detroit Lions came in at just 18th, well behind both the Vikings (7th) and the Packers (10th), but still comfortably ahead of the Bears (24th).

  • Ezekiel Ansah welcomed new head coach Matt Patricia to Detroit on Twitter:

  • Former Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky believes the Lions are “closer than you think” to being a Super Bowl contender. He laid out a plan on what he’d do to get them in contention ASAP. (The Athletic subscription required)

  • Sadly, it appears former Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley will never play again. He was released by the Saints on Monday because of his heart condition.

  • It looks like Paul Pasqualoni will have a significant role in the Lions’ coaching staff:

I encourage everyone to step out of that particular norm and truly find your roots and embrace them!
