Lions notes: Eric Ebron now ranks 15th among TEs, per PFF

The Lions tight end has completely turned his season around.

  • After a very slow start to the year, Eric Ebron has pulled himself back to respectability. He now ranks among the league’s best tight ends, according to Pro Football Focus:

  • Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell refused to tell reporters on Wednesday what his favorite movie is because “You might misunderstand. I don’t have time to explain.” Predictably, the internet went crazy and started to speculate what his favorite movie should be. The Detroit Free Press actually found out he had told the media his favorite movie in the past, and it is apparently “The Magnificent Seven.”

  • Tahir Whitehead was this week’s entertaining guest on #AskALion:

  • attempts to grade NFL coaches based on in-game decision like clock-management, game-planning, in-game adjustments and personnel decisions. According to their calculations, Caldwell ranks ninth in the NFL, but has slowly been dropping every week.

  • Jeff Triplette’s officiating crew will be in charge of Lions-Bears on Saturday. You may remember Triplette’s crew from such calls like this:

  • Justin Rogers of the Detroit News did a nice film breakdown of 10 observations from the Lions-Buccaneers game.

  • Here’s an awesome story for the holiday season. For the fourth straight year, the Detroit Lions teamed with Warrick Dunn’s charity “Homes for the Holidays” to completely furnish and provide a downpayment for a new home for an economically-disadvantaged, single-mother family.
